Fashion and creation

Shopping at the Eurometropolis territory is a real passion! And fashion is a second nature here.

With many centuries of commerce tradition, the Lille metropolis has preserved a taste for beautiful shops and a particular fascination for shopping. In the city center of Lille, the biggest international trademarks invite for many hours walking... within an area not bigger than your handkerchief. Each neighborhood has its own specialties: trendy at Euralille and chic in the historic city center. At Roubaix, about fifteen minutes with the subway, 170 factory shops guarantee exciting bargain hunt for all fashion lovers! At the Fashion Houses, young stylists did their utmost to create unique pieces and "prêt-à-porter" inspired on the haute couture in French style. During week-ends, markets breathe a mixed bohemian atmosphere. Here people come and hunt original accessories and vintage pieces.

On the other side of the border, there is Kortrijk and Roeselare where shopping addicts can practice their favorite pastime. The shops at Kortrijk city can be explored during a random walk along the streets of the pedestrians-only area of the historic center. The city houses K, one of the biggest shopping centers of the region, the place to be for an intensive shopping spree. At Roeselare, a city famous for its Rodenbach beer, shopping is an outdoor event. This city is also called "the most enjoyable outdoor mall of West-Flanders", counting over one hundred shops where anyone is welcomed by outstanding service, in a charming setting loaded with history.

Textile creation in the city of Tournai is anchored in a tradition of many centuries, to be explored at the Tapestry and Fabric Arts Museum. The international Tapestry Triennial - exhibition focusing on contemporary textile creation - confirms the revival of this art through young creators. The Arts High school of Saint-Luc is also welcoming a "design and fashion" division. Tournai offers many possibilities for a shopping trip: the prêt-à-porter shops are the highlight of the city center, and there are two shopping centers, Les Bastions and the Froyennes shopping center, concentrating 130 trading points and shops of big chains in clothing and decoration. On Sunday mornings, each center also organizes a flea market where people can go bargain hunting.
