Access and mobility

By car

The region has a dense motorway network linking with Paris (A1), Brussels (E429), Bruges (E403), Antwerp (E17), Dunkerque (A25), Valenciennes (A27) and Mons (E42). Parking possibilities:

In Lille:

We advise parking outside the city center and taking the subway or the Citadine city shuttles.

  • 6 parking areas with subway connection are available free of charge 7 days a week and 24 hours a day, monitored Monday to Saturday from 6 a.m. until midnight. They are located in Lille (subways Porte d’Arras, Porte des Postes and CHR B Calmette), Lomme (Saint-Philibert) and Villeneuve d’Ascq (Les PrĂ©s and 4 Cantons).
  • 2 parking areas with Citadine shuttle connection are located at Champ de Mars (next to the Citadel) and at the Porte de Valenciennes subway station, monitored from Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. For just 1,60€ for 3 hours or 3€ for a full day, you can use the Citadine shuttle serving the city center and other quarters of the city for free.

In Kortrijk:

  • Parking at the Broel (close to the center): 2 euro/day.
  • Various pay parking areas in the city center:
  • Zone Park & Ride of 500 parking spaces close to the Kinepolis cinema, the Kortrijk XPO and the motorway exit (Kennedylaan). Buses to the city center and parking are free for Park & Ride users.

In Tournai :

Free parking at the "Esplanade de l’Europe" (10 min walk from the Cathedral), various pay parking areas in the city center.

By train or bus

The Eurometropolis is accessible by TGV from London, Paris, Brussels and Cologne. The Eurometropolis railway network is dense and serves the main cities regularly. There are direct and frequent links between the city centers of Lille, Kortrijk and Tournai, which do not take more than about twenty minutes! Starting from these main poles, you can visit all around the whole Eurometropolis by train or by bus.

The subway and the Lille tramway cover the whole French urban zone and make opportunities for exploration much easier: combine a visit to Lille with other outstanding cultural places such as La Piscine in Roubaix or the LAM museum in Villeneuve d’Ascq.
