Kortrijk and the region of the Lys

The region of the Lys houses a young generation of talented chefs that approach cook according to traditional methods, aiming at innovation and quality.

To explore the region in all its culinary aspects, one needs to try out the local products and specialties.

First of all there are the famous red beers, typical for the region of West-Flanders, testifying the know-how of local traditional brewers, such as the Rodenbach, the Duchesse de Bourgogne and the Vanderghinste Oud Bruin, all of them surprisingly original and tasty. Thanks to low alcohol content and a refreshing acidity, they are ideal to hydrate thirsty cyclists who certainly appreciate a small break during their trip. A pleasure to be shared on the numerous pavement cafés along the riverbanks of the Lys.

Do you prefer chocolate to beer? Lovers of traditionally prepared chocolates will find their true passion at the Chocoladehuis of Kortrijk, or at the Zwarte Vos chocolatier, in Deinze.

Do you prefer walking around the city? Whether you choose the Grote Markt, the Vlasmarkt or the Burgemeester Reynaertstraat, the historical Kortrijk city center is bursting with  gourmet food addresses. This is also the case for the Grote Markt and the Botermarkt of the nearby city of Roeselare.
